  4. We had a very successful dinner banquet at the Chicago meeting. About 100 members participated in our first self-supported dinner event. We are grateful for the generous contributions from Dr. and Mrs. Larry Lau ($1,000), Dr. and Mrs. Cheng Hsiao ($1,000), and the Department of Economics of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology ($1,289.82). Many other members also made contribution of various amount to the dinner fund.

The Graduate Institute of Political Economy invites applications for a full-time position, beginning August 1, 1998, at the assistant professor level or above in the field of Public Finance. Junior candidates should have a Ph.D. in Economics by April 1998 as well as evidence of research promise. Candidates for senior positions should have a Ph.D. and an excellent research and teaching records. Secondary fields in Industrial Organization and/or Labor Economics will be given preference. Mandarin required. Send letter of interest, curriculum vita, official transcripts, Ph.D. diploma, samples of recent research, and 3 reference letters before April 30, 1998.
