Due to budget concerns, and as approved at the membership meeting on January 4, 1999, CEANA will start delivering the February, May, and August newsletter by e-mail. The November newsletter will be sent by regular mail. Please check your e-mail address as listed in the 1999 directory carefully and send your correction to Professor Jen-Chi Cheng at cheng@twsuvm.uc.twsu.edu. Those who have no e-mail addresses will receive the newsletter in the regular mail.

Chinese Economic Association in North America (CEANA) is organizing several sessions at the conferences of the Allied Social Science Associations. Members and nonmembers are invited to submit papers for presentation and/or serve as discussants and chairs in these sessions. In presentation, please observe the following conditions:

A submission fee of US$20 must accompany each submission of the paper unless at least one of the authors is a member of the association. In the latter case, please indicate which author is a member.
Multiple submissions by the same authors to the same conference are not encouraged.

3. Please send three copies of an abstract or a paper to the organizer no later than the deadline noted below:

Allied Social Science Association Meetings

Li, Tong. Zeller Award Honorable Mention for Best Ph.D. Thesis in Econometrics.

"Using All bids in Parametric Estimation of First-Price Auctions."

Chang, Mabel. On May 14, 1998, Professor Emerita Mabel Chang and her fellow volunteer teachers were recognized by the NYS Intergenerational Network (NYSIgn) for their volunteer teaching in I.S. 82, Bronx, during the academic year 1997-98. NYSIgn is under the Retired Faculty Initiative Program (R.F.I.S.) of Columbia University’s School of Social Work. The RFIS program was the winner of the Seventh Annual Award given by NYSIgn in the Elder-Serving-Youth category for this year.
