IIIS Public Lecture Forum presented by Professor
Horace Campbell entitled
"The Exhaustion of the Patriarchal Model of
Liberation: Lessons from Zimbabwe."
The lecture will coincide with International
Womens Day and
Trinity College’s Centenary Year of Women
entering the college.
Professor Campbell will address Zimbabwe’s
experiences, from the transition to
independence, to the crisis ravaging the country
today, Campbell will tackle issues such as ideas
and practises of the Rhodesian state to see how
the liberation leaders integrated themselves
into the old state machinery.

Professor Horace Campbell is professor of
African American Studies and Political
Science at Syracuse University, New York. He is
author of the widely acclaimed
Rasta and Resistance: From Marcus Garvey to
Walter Rodney. Whilst
here, he will be giving a series of
seminar/lectures and he will be launching his
new book entitled
Reclaiming Zimbabwe: the Exhaustion of the
Patriarchal Model of Liberation.
The book will be available in the Library Shop
