Topic 3 assignment: Analysis of the Oil Shockwave simulations
Consider the process your group undertook to reach recommendations for each iteration of the simulation. (If you did not participate all four days, address the process during the time that you did.) Briefly describe both processes. Identify key differences between the iterations of the simulation in which you were involved. What do you believe accounted for these differences? How did the processes effect the groups' recommendations. Do you think the processes facilitated useful discussion, or were some voices not heard? Did the processes lead to an informed consensus, did significant dissent remain, or were some perspectives not considered? Overall, were the groups' searches for solutions rich, extensive, imaginative and informed ... or not?
The organization of the paper is up to you. Be sure that you attempt to answer the questions above, and provide reasons as well as data (viz., memories of what you and other did and how you interacted) to justify your opinions. When you refer to readings assigned in this course or to other scholarly material, be sure to cite it in footnotes (or endnotes). You may find that a paper 8-9 pages in length will suffice. Remember what you've learned from the previous papers: strong and clear organization of the paper enables succinct responses to the questions above.
