Recall:    Realist MoMs (e.g., Morgenthau vs Carr)
               Liberal MoMs (esp. emphasis upon "man" as intelligent enough to usually prefer to exchange in markets)
               Marxist MoMs (esp. the characterization of man's "nature" depending upon whether or not he lives in a milieu of exploitation)
               Possible Constructivist MoMs, closely derived from learning theories of L. Vygotsky and J. Piaget, not yet found in the writings of IR)

Bennett's "fifth" MoM: A formal model of nonmonotone (defeasible), extended,
instrumental Aristotelian syllogistic practical reasoning.  A mouthful, but almost as simple as the others.

Man is (a) locally instrumentally rational
            (b) principled as to "ends" but opportunistic as to "means"
            (c) purposeful, i.e., goal directed, even directed to achieve incompatible goals
            (d) usually reliable, ie., he does what he intends to do ... usually
