Map of the Finger Lakes (constructed by yahoo.com)

My house is 1/2" below the '+' in this map, on a hillside above the West shore of Seneca Lake, which is a bit over 2 miles wide at that point. The view is worth occasionally trudging up 120 meters of snow covered driveway. From my front windows one can see, toward the southeast, Seneca Army Depot (which formerly stored nuclear artillery shells for deployment to Europe) and a permanently moored H-shaped barge from which the US Navy tests sonar equipment in the deep, thermally layered waters of Seneca Lake. Otherwise, the scene is peaceful.
