After
more than two decades as a Professor and director or co-director of five
conflict resolution programs in the Maxwell School of Syracuse
University, Neil left full time teaching to have more flexibility to
pursue other activities in consulting, teaching, and scholarship. Along
with his Emeriti Faculty status, Neil continues to teach conflict
resolution, negotiation, mediation and leadership classes at Syracuse
University as an adjunct faculty member of the Maxwell School’s renowned
Public Administration Program, and as a teaching associate with the
Program on the Analysis and Resolution of Conflicts (PARC).
In addition, he teaches in the University’s acclaimed Newhouse
School of Public Communications and the Whitman School of Management.
During the winter months, Neil also teaches a course in Ft. Lauderdale,
Florida as Distinguished Visiting Professor of Practice at Nova
Southeastern University’s Department of Conflict Analysis and
Resolution. Neil
also continues consulting and training while serving as Program Manager
for Training and Organizational Consulting at the Maxwell School’s Executive Education
Programs and as head of his own consulting firm, Dr. Neil Katz
and Associates. In these capacities, he has worked with many
prestigious public and private sector organizations throughout the
United States.
Among Neil’s awards and honors, he received the Martin Luther King
Jr. Human Rights Award from the Syracuse Community for his career
long commitment to nonviolent conflict resolution and the principles
embodied in Dr. King’s life and work.
